Director's Message

Some years ago, as a veteran teacher, and mother of seven children, I began to ask myself, "If I could create the perfect educational environment in which each and every child could learn to the best of his or her ability, what would that look like?" The question stemmed from the fact that I was consistently seeing the frustration students face when there is not enough personal attention, praise for achievements, or educational programming that meets the child's individual needs.
After compiling a lengthy "wish list" of traits I would want in my ideal school, I founded Meadow Green Academy.
As Director, I set out to develop a carefully structured and skill-oriented learning program. Each student at Meadow Green Academy is assessed to identify learning needs. We then determine the teaching style that would most benefit your child. The assessment process is on going and key to ensuring that your child meets his/her potential.
I believe strongly in the importance of having a positive environment where all students can develop the self-confidence they need to learn. Mutual respect and Christian values are stressed to develop a sense of well-being in our students. Small class sizes and a hands-on teaching style help the students fully understand all subjects, and skill-oriented programs ensure that they know how to apply all of their knowledge.
By using a systematic approach to learning, we make sure that fundamental skills are learned. For example, phonics, spelling, grammar and written comprehension skills are all formally taught in our language programs. Computational and math skills are regularly drilled.
Critical thinking and the ability to problem solve are crucial to academic success. Students need to apply ideas, make comparisons, organize thoughts, hypothesize and challenge existing issues. Being involved in the executive processing of these ideas is very important. Critical and creative thinkers shape our world.
In the business world we're hearing more and more about the importance of life-long learning. We must give our children the skills they need to fulfill future challenges and employment expectations, as well as, the self-esteem they need to enjoy their lives to the fullest. As we continue in the 21st century, we must prepare our future leaders. Thank you for your interest in Meadow Green Academy. I know you will be as impressed with the results of our methods as other parents and past students have been.
